I did this unauthorized rework in 1996. Junior Vasquez was the first to play this at the Tunnel. A few months later it surfaced as a Purple Label Bootleg under the title Color Purple. My friend Dj Jackie Christie told me that one early Thursday night back in the late nineties while spinning at club LIFE NYC. Prince was there and by himself at the edge of the dance floor grooving to this bootleg. He did not ask or even raise an eyebrow. I was Not Surprised.
